First off, pear and smoked Gruyere cheese = perfect pairing. It was by complete fluke that I tried the two together; spontaneous purchase of the cheese with my fiancee and I had bought the pears to photograph. What I learned - they taste amazing together, as do many cheeses and fruit (grapes and white cheddar are good too).
And after doing some research, here's what else I learned about pears...
- The pear is also a member of the rose family.
- The Northwest is one of the top producers of pears in the US.
- Pears are rich in fiber!
